Google Business Profile Not Showing on Maps? 9 Reasons & Fixes

Quick answer

If your Google Business Profile isn't showing on Maps, the usual causes are: it's unverified, suspended, a duplicate, has a mismatched address, was recently edited, or is simply outranked by competitors. Check your verification status first, make sure your name, address and phone match everywhere, and don't keep editing while it's under review.

You search your own business on Google and… nothing. It's a horrible feeling, especially when you know customers are looking for you right now. The good news is that a missing listing almost always has a fixable cause. Let's go through the nine most common ones.

1. Your profile isn't verified yet

An unverified profile usually won't appear publicly on Maps. Open your profile and check the status. If it says 'not verified' or 'pending', finish verification first — everything else depends on it.

2. Your profile is suspended

If Google suspended your listing, it vanishes from Maps and Search completely. You'll normally get an email. If that's the case, you need a proper reinstatement, not more edits.

3. There's a duplicate listing

Two listings for the same business confuse Google, and it may hide one or both. Search for duplicates and get the extra one removed the right way.

4. Your name, address or phone don't match

If your NAP (name, address, phone) is different on your website, Justdial, Facebook and your profile, Google loses trust in the data and can bury you. Make all of them identical, down to the spelling.

5. You edited it recently

Big edits — changing your address, name or category — can push a profile back into review, during which it may temporarily disappear. Avoid frequent edits and give it a few days to settle.

6. Wrong address or map pin

A wrong pin location or an address Google can't confirm will hurt visibility. Double-check the pin sits exactly on your premises.

7. You're a service-area business showing an address

If you visit customers instead of them visiting you, list service areas and hide the street address. Getting this wrong can suppress the listing.

8. You're simply being outranked

Sometimes the profile is fine — it's just on page two. Competitors with more reviews, posts and complete profiles are ahead. That's a ranking problem, and it's fixable with steady local SEO work.

9. Personal search settings or location

Your own search results are affected by your location and history. Test in incognito, or ask someone in another area to search. The listing may be showing fine to real customers nearby.

How to diagnose it in the right order

Don't fix things at random. Work top-down, because the causes higher up hide everything below them. Here's the order I use when a client sends me a 'my listing vanished' message:

[@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "undefined", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop

Nine times out of ten, the real problem is one of the first four. People jump straight to 'ranking' when actually their profile is sitting in review after an address edit.

New profile vs profile that disappeared

Make one important distinction. A brand-new profile that has never shown up is usually a verification issue — Google hasn't confirmed you exist yet. A profile that was live and then vanished is almost always a suspension, a duplicate, or a review triggered by an edit. The fix is very different, so be clear which situation you're in before you act.

How to stop it happening again

Once your listing is back, keep it stable with a few habits:

[@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "undefined", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop

Still can't find it?

Work through these in order, starting with verification and suspension. If it turns out to be suspended or a stubborn duplicate, that's exactly the kind of thing we fix every week for businesses in Surat and across India. Send us your profile link on WhatsApp and we'll tell you honestly what's wrong — often within the first look.
